Today’s Thoughts
Another HOT day.
I will survive.
Campaign spending is totally out of
control. The current election cycle expenditures should be about $10,690,000,000.
It is the advertisers that are making the most of that money. Candidates need to spend big $$ to be noticed
by the citizens. It is time to realize that money buys votes in our elections.
I was shocked to learn that the Tuba
City Cemetery is closed for burials. I hear it has been that way a few years.
The cemetery was run by the chapter and the of care of the cemetery has always been
left to families of the deceased. The Chapter says they are trying to find a location
for a new cemetery. Navajo traditional beliefs have many regarding death and
handling the dead. This adds to the dilemma. Every chapter has a local cemetery
for the burial of locals only. In the meantime, Flagstaff is the nearest cemetery,
off the reservation and at a very high cost.

Origin of common phrases
Whistle Dixie
To "whistle
Dixie" is to have unrealistic expectations. It comes from
the U.S. Civil War-era song "Dixie" and the failed hope of a
Confederate victory.
False Facts about religions
Hindus Worship Many
Gods
When we hear the names Vishnu, Shiva, and Devi—all presented as gods—it’s
so easy to believe that faith in Hinduism runs on a polytheistic system.
However, these ‘gods’ are only different manifested aspects of the faith
embodied in a single supreme being, Brahman.
