Today’s Quote                                                        Today’s Meme

"If summer had one defining scent, it'd definitely be the smell of barbecue."

— Katie Lee

Today’s Thoughts

Today is going well. It’s warm and the monsoon should arrive later this afternoon.

Senator Melendez (D-NJ) has been found guilty of 16 felony counts including bribery, obstruction of justice and acting as a foreign agent. Many Dems immediately demanded that he resign from the Senate and if he didn’t, they would be sure he was expelled.

Politics is dirty. Campaigns are dirty. I have always heard that ‘my opponent will’ do something that will basically destroy the US. Over the years these remarks have been about policy decisions. Over the past few election cycles, these remarks have changed to personal attacks on the candidate. I didn’t like it when it started and I don’t like it as it has escalated. I’m now seeing this is ‘just politics’. During the Republican Primary, all the candidates disparaged Trump with a thesaurus of personal attacks, and he returned them with vigor. Now that Trump has the nomination, all his rivals, except for Christie, have returned to the campaign trail to praise Trump as the chosen leader. I do not see any of them as ‘leaders’. They attacked the Alpha, they lost to the Alpha, and now they have their tail between their legs, begging for a tidbit of recognition from the Alpha.

Phrases used by Old-er People that younger people might not understand

“Close, But No Cigar”

This once-popular phrase means nearly achieving a goal but ultimately falling short. It’s said to originate from carnival games where cigars were given as prizes for near successes. The saying was commonly used as a lighthearted acknowledgment of effort and near success.

False Facts about religions

Sharia Law Is a Single Set of Laws

Rather than a single set of rules, like the Ten Commandments, Sharia is a combination of a broad set of principles gathered from the Quran and Hadiths. Its interpretations are varied by scholastic schools of thought. Shariah also covers matters of morality, not just legality.

Historic Events

·         1870 – The First Vatican Council decreed the dogma of papal infallibility.
