Today’s Quote                                                        Today’s Meme

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

--Voltaire

Today’s Thoughts

The heat wave is continuing with little moisture in the forecast.

Our town and the nearby forest are now in Stage 1 fire restrictions. This is much earlier than usual. • Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire, including charcoal and briquettes, outside a fire structure that is provided by the Forest Service within a Designated Area

• Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three (3) feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material. I hope they work.

Now there is a 100 acre fire at Camp Navajo, about 20 miles west of Flagstaff. The team is requesting air support.  Hoping for the best.

Biden is in France to recognize the D-Day invasion’s 80th anniversary. I remember when Americans saw the D-Day anniversary united. Today, the Dems are appreciative and the Republicans find fault with Biden’s every move. So sad.

Indigenous People to Know

Charlene Teters

For many years, artist, educator, and activist Charlene Teters has been committed to removing Indigenous cultural appropriation in the state of Illinois. A member of the Spokane tribe and former Academic Dean of the Institute of American Indian Arts, Teters is a powerful and creative voice in the movement for change. Decades after she protested the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign's mascot, Chief Illiniwek, the school finally removed the mascot. The fight against appropriated mascots, however, is not over yet.
