Today’s Quote                                                        Today’s Meme

"It's a smile, it's a kiss, it's a sip of wine ... It's summertime!"

— Kenny Chesney

Today’s Thoughts

I’m hoping for more monsoon rain today.

Yesterday afternoon my area got a couple of nice monsoon rains. Each lasted about 20 minutes. The temperature dropped to a nice 75°.

Last night had no breeze and was muggy for Flagstaff. I woke up several times due to the heat, even with my bedroom window open wide.

That makes today a little lazy. Just enjoying the summer.

Origin of common phrases

Shoot from the hip

To "shoot from the hip" means to act or speak impulsively without much forethought. It comes from the American West, when a gunslinger would fire from the hip without taking the weapon out of the holster. The shot would be more quick than accurate.
