American History…
When was George
Washington's birthday?
Incorrect: Feb. 22, 1732 Correct: Feb.
11, 1731… depending on your calendar
Technically, George Washington was born in Virginia on
Feb. 11, 1731, at least according to the then-used Julian calendar. The date
shifted in 1792, when Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian
calendar, moving Washington's birthday a year and 11 days from what was
originally recorded.
