Today’s Thoughts
Got some clouds…got some blue sky…moisture
should be here soon.
Dems are assembling in Chicago. I sure
hope it is better than 1968.
Happy to say the Broncos cleaned up on
the Chargers. Glad I could watch it live.
I read this morning that Flagstaff is
one of the 10 sunniest cities in the USA. We have about 3600 hours of sunshine each
year…and that is at 7000’ above sea level. Cool.
60 Minutes did an update on Ukraine last night.
The Russians have left thousands of 5oz. flutter bombs throughout Ukrainian towns.
These tiny bombs explode with minimal pressure. Tens of thousands of innocent
civilians, including children, have been severely injured, some losing limbs, others
left unable to walk. It is inhumane and should lead to severe punishment for those
using them.
Riddles
If there are
3 apples and you take away 2, how many apples do you have?
Random Thoughts…
While filming an episode of the West
Wing, Martin Sheen put a cigarette out in the National Cathedral while in
character – prompting the National Cathedral to ban filming inside the
building.
Because telescopes work using mirrors, we’ll never know if there are any space
vampires.
Doritos could be made without the
powder and taste exactly the same. It was left on because it was decided that
the residue left on your fingers as part of the “Doritos experience.”
American History…
Who was the first
President of the United States?
Incorrect: George Washington Correct:
Peyton Randolph
George Washington
was the country's first elected president. But he was by no
means the country's first president.
During the
Revolutionary War, in 1775, Peyton Randolph was the first (and third)
president of the Continental Congress. In 1783, Thomas Mifflin, an aide to
Washington during the war, served as president, and ratified the Treaty of
Paris. But John Hancock holds the distinction of serving the most
time as president of the Continental Congress. Over two separate terms—the
fourth and thirteenth—he served more than 1,000 days in the role.
All told, there were
more than a dozen presidents before George Washington took office.
Riddles
Answer
This is a
riddle where you need to keep a close eye on the second-person pronoun.
Although set up like a simple math problem (3 - 2 = 1), the riddle is saying
“you” take away two apples and then asking how many apples “you” have.
Birthdays
@67 – Benjamin Harrison, American politician, 23rd
President (died in 1901; influenza)
