Today’s Thoughts
Another warm day with very little
breeze.
If only Biden had been like he was
last night, this would still be a Biden-Harris ticket. But now that is history,
and the party has united behind the Harris-Walz ticket. There were some good
speeches last night. Other times I wondered what the heck was going on. Guess
that makes it a good convention. I hear tonight the convention may have several
Republicans on stage. That should be interesting.

American History…
What event entangled the United States in World War II?
Incorrect: Invasion of Poland by Germany Correct: Pearl
Harbor
While Germany's invasion of Poland is what kicked off the war in Europe,
it wasn't until Japan attacked U.S. territory that the nation decided to get
involved. On December 7, 1941, a surprise military invasion was carried out on
an American naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The strike consisted of 353 aircraft which were
launched from four heavy carriers. Though it lasted just over an hour, 2,403
U.S. personnel were killed during the attack, including 68 civilians. 19 U.S.
Navy ships were either damaged or destroyed.

African-Americans were denied library cards at the Alexandria, VA Library
and arrested after sitting down and reading books. The civil disobedience

- 1961 – Motown released
what would be its first #1 hit, Please Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes.
- 1986 – The Lake Nyos,
