Today’s Thoughts

Enjoying a nice day and looking forward to the Memorial Day Weekend.

I headed out this morning for a needed pedicure. My favorite older pedicure lady was there and gave me a great pedicure.  I’m remembered I went a few years after retirement before I ever had a pedicure. My brother, his wife, and I were in Chicago for Christmas. They decided to get a pedicure. We went into a place close to where we were staying. Laura walked in, turned around and told us, not this one. We went to another one a few miles away. This new one was great. After that great pedicure, I have been doing them ever since. So glad I discovered how pleasant they are, and my toenails and feet have never felt better.

Both local public high schools are having graduation at the local University today. That is just adding to the heavy traffic around the town. I sure hope all these out-of-town visitors support our local economy. Our local ski area is staying open until June 1, the latest they have ever been open. The slopes got about 285” of snow this ski season. Nice!

The NCAA and the Large Conferences are going to let schools pay student-athletes. This is a big deal and will change college sports. I hope it works. I wonder if this will raise tuition costs even higher than they already are. I also wonder how this affect the athletes when it comes to graduation.

Did you Know?

Origin of common phrases

Ballpark figure

The phrase "ballpark figure" stems from commentators who guessed the size of country crowds by estimating the number of spectators. It's believed to have started with sizing up baseball fans.
