Today’s Thoughts

A nice spring day…can’t complain.

I got a notice yesterday that the HOA will have a crew to paint the wood facia on my deck on Monday. I had to clear off the deck for this. I had to clear off a couple of small tables, and a couple of chairs and move them inside for this event. My guest bedroom is filled with outdoor stuff, but I have no visitors expected so all is good.

My formal colleague, Cheryl, is still in Ca. It’s her birthday so I tried to call her. I finally got her son and he said she is now at a retirement community near him. She recently had a knee replacement and is doing well. She is 78 and not able to live on her own. Her son has moved some of her stuff to CA and is in the process of getting her house in Williams ready as a rental. I called and talked to her for about an hour. She is happy and healing well. She doesn’t like driving anymore and is adjusting well to her new situation. I gave her number to several of her friends here in AZ after getting her approval. It was good to talk to her.

Today and tomorrow are our local university’s commencement. I won’t be going to that side of town for a few days. Adding graduation traffic to the already congested road improvements, I’ll just avoid it.

Fact: There’s enough gold inside Earth to coat the planet

Turns out, there’s quite a bit of gold on—or, really, in—our planet: 99 percent of the precious metal can be found in the Earth’s core, Discover Magazine reports. How much is there? Enough to coat the entire surface of the Earth in 1.5 feet of gold.
