Today’s Thoughts

Another overcast day. Moisture is always appreciated.

The painters arrived to paint the back wood facia. All good and finished by noon.

The CPAP guy came to do the yearly check of my Oxygen concentrator. All good. I picked up my CPAP supplies yesterday…they were a week late. I asked about the concentrator check as it should have been done in October. He came this morning. Thanks to my iPhone I have a calendar set to remind me of such things. It is nice to have recurring events show up with a couple of clicks.

Both major candidates have agreed to 2 debates. Maybe mics will be turned off when it is not their turn. Also, maybe no audience. Right now it’s CNN and ABC that will each carry one debate. Interesting since other presidential debates were set up by a non-partisan group. I guess the times are really changing.

Did you Know?

 Interesting Facts

Fact: It takes a drop of water 90 days to travel the entire Mississippi River

Spanning 2,340 miles, the Mississippi River is the third-largest watershed in the world. That’s one long stretch of water. So long, in fact, that it takes one drop of water approximately 90 days to travel its entire length.

Historic Events

Ë 1866 – The United States Congress established the 5-cent nickel.

Ë 1918 – The Sedition Act of 1918 is passed by the U.S. Congress, making criticism of the government during wartime an imprisonable offense.

It was repealed on December 13, 1920.

Ë 1951 – The first regularly scheduled transatlantic flights began, between Idlewild Airport (now John F Kennedy International Airport) in New York City and Heathrow Airport in London.

Birthdays with some quotes

80 – Danny Trejo, American actor

73 – Christian Lacroix, French fashion designer

71 – Pierce Brosnan, Irish-American actor

58 – Janet Jackson, American singer-songwriter

“I don’t believe in luck. It’s persistence, hard work, and not forgetting your dream.”

56 – Tucker Carlson, American journalist

55 – David Boreanaz, American actor

51 – Tori Spelling, American actress, reality television personality

“Everybody knows there is no such thing as normal. There is no black-and-white definition of normal. Normal is subjective. There’s only a messy, inconsistent, silly, hopeful version of how we feel most at home in our lives.”

38 – Megan Fox, American actress

“Just be you. I’ve learned the hard way and in the end, some people are just so full of hate that no matter what you say or do, they’ll always have something to say.”

34 – Thomas Brodie-Sangster, English actor

@78 – Yvonne Craig, American actress (d. 2015; cancer)

“Everybody in their own imagination decides what scary is.”

@77 – Henry Fonda, American actor (d. 1982; heart disease)

@71 – William H. Seward, American lawyer and politician, 24th United States Secretary of State (d. 1872)

@67 – Liberace, American pianist and entertainer (d. 1987; HIV)

“Years ago when I started doing TV and making appearances in big arenas, the place would put security guys up there and I said, “Please don’t do that. It’s very distracting to see ten cops in front of the stage. Everybody’s looking at the officers instead of me. I don’t want that.” I also found that people will dare to break a barricade. If they have a barricade, somebody will always try to jump over it. I’ve found that the more open I am, the better.”

@45 – Osgood Perkins, American character actor (d. 1937; heart attack)

…The End for today…
