Today’s Quote                                                        Today’s Meme

"You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated."

— Maya Angelou

Today’s Thoughts

A nice spring day.

In the past few years, there has been a big change in our society. We have moved from ‘differing opinions to differing facts.’ I see this as a very sad commentary. If we are unable to agree on the facts, we are simply wasting time on opinions.

Did you Know?

 Interesting Facts

Fact: The brand name Spam is a combination of “spice” and “ham”

This is one of those interesting facts you probably thought you knew but actually didn’t. Contrary to American mythology, Spam is not an acronym for “Scientifically Processed Animal Matter” or “Shoulder of Pork and Ham,” Eater reports.

Historic Events

Ë 1861 – The Great Comet of 1861 (C/1861 J1) was discovered, and it should return in 2063.

Ë 1917 – The first reported apparition of Our Lady of Fátima in Fátima, Portugal.

Birthdays with some quotes

74 – Stevie Wonder, musician

63 – Dennis Rodman, American basketball player

“This life is like a swimming pool. You dive into the water, but you can’t see how deep it is.”

60 – Stephen Colbert, American comedian and talk show host

“Contrary to what people may say, there’s no upper limit to stupidity.”

38 – Lena Dunham, American actress

37 – Candice King, American actress

31 – Debby Ryan, American actress

@86 – Bea Arthur, American actress and singer (d. 2009)

“I really cut my teeth on off-off-off Broadway shows.”

@66 – Robert Middleton, American character actor (d. 1977)

@66 – Joe Louis, American boxer (d. 1981; cardiac arrest)

“A champion doesn’t become a champion in the ring, he’s merely recognized in the ring. His ‘becoming’ happens during his daily routine.”

@49 – Mary Wells, American singer-songwriter (d. 1992; pneumonia)

@17 – Ritchie Valens, American singer-songwriter, guitarist (d. 1959; plane crash)

…The End for today…
