Thoughts for the
day
I headed out this morning for a much-needed haircut. My stylist noticed I
had lost weight and that my hair looked better. I explained a little about my treatment.
Glad she noticed.
It is devastating to see the damage of the earthquakes in Afghanistan. It
is always hard to see the damage in a third-world country. The small villages
have very little to begin with, and then everything they have is destroyed.
I try hard to keep up with the news, both National and International.
When did the US decided that illegal immigrants should be deported to a 3rd
world country where they have no connection?
Why is the US President suggesting that the Palestine refugees in Gaza
should suffer the same deportation? Our nation of laws is in deep trouble.
Myths from Medieval
Times
The Middle Ages Saw Many Medical Advances
Although people in the Middle
Ages were not as medically advanced as we are today, they made many strides in
the field. For instance, records from a 14th-century Dominican friar prove that
Medieval people wore eyeglasses. We do not know who invented them, only that
they were worn.
Historians also believe that
interest in anatomy began in the Middle Ages. Doctors began dissecting during
this time, and Italian physician Mondino de Luzzi even hosted public
dissections to teach his students in 1315. These developments are what make us
so knowledgeable about medicine today.
Things That Worked
Better Before They Were “Improved” by Technology
Paper Maps That Never Needed Updates
While GPS is incredibly
convenient, there’s something to be said for good old-fashioned paper maps.
They never lost signal, didn’t need charging, and gave you a better sense of
your overall journey. Plus, learning to read a map was a valuable skill
that helped develop spatial awareness and planning abilities.
Random Thoughts…
If ghosts exist, they might be watching us in the shower, and we’ll never
know.
Every mirror in your house has seen you at your worst and will never forget.
What if the shadows we see are alternate versions of ourselves trying to
escape?
Your reflection in the mirror could be slightly delayed, and you’d never
notice.
