Thoughts for the day

It’s a nice day, maybe some moisture this afternoon.

I had lunch with Andy and Faith. Mary called and said she was sick and Mike was taking care of her.  Good lunch and good conversation.

Yet another government shutdown is on the horizon. As a Federal employee I lived through at least 3 shutdowns. All were stupid. We had to take dorm students and day students home early in the day with no assurance that any parent would be home. For dorm students, the parents might leave for several days during the week, knowing that their children were in school and taken care of. Each time teachers and administrators got ½ day off with full pay. Each time we returned the next day as if nothing had happened. With all that is going on in DC, I fear that the current administration would be in no hurry to reopen the government. A shutdown of more than a couple of days could devastate many regular citizens. I sure hope that leaders step up and prevent a shutdown.

Historic Figures who died too soon…

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger was a legendary artist and an all-around remarkable human being. His performance as the Joker will echo throughout eternity. He died at the age of 28 and left behind a legacy that hinted at so many even more iconic roles that could've followed.

 Wrong Common Knowledge

Viking Helmets Had Horns

Vikings were fierce warriors, but they didn’t actually wear horned helmets. The image of horned Viking helmets comes from 19th-century opera costumes. Real Viking helmets were much more practical. If you think about it, the horns would have just gotten in the way during battle.

Random Thoughts…

It’s funny how dogs like our food but we dont like their food.

I fear the day Facebook decides to inform users of who has viewed their profile...and how many times.

That awkward moment when you say good bye to your friends and then it turns out your not leaving yet.

Guns don't kill people, bullets do. (Unless you get pistol whipped to death)

If I scrimped and saved in real life as well as I do in video games, I'd be retiring next year.
