Thoughts for the
day
Another very nice late summer day. Weather guy says to expect windy
conditions later today.
The renaming of the Dept. of Defense to the Dept. of War isn’t helping
Trump get the Noble Peace Prize…just sayin’.
I am very thankful that I am not a young parent right now. It must be
difficult to get the all the vaccine news to know what your child(ren) need all
the vaccines.
Myths from Medieval
Times
Guilds Kept Things Organized
The popular image of medieval
rules generally involves a lawmaking system where the king's power is absolute,
and all rules and regulations come from the whims of the monarch. While this
was true to some degree, there was a complicated infrastructure of rules and
laws.
One such example is guilds,
which regulated economic activity by organizing skilled laborers into
structured communities. Guilds still exist today, but they were of paramount
importance during the medieval period.
Things That Worked
Better Before They Were “Improved” by Technology
Door Locks With Real Keys
Modern smart locks offer
convenience, but they also introduce new worries about dead batteries,
forgotten codes, and potential hacking. Traditional mechanical locks and keys
worked reliably for centuries without needing software updates or network
connectivity. Sometimes the simplest solution is still the most secure.
