Thoughts for the day

It’s another great late summer day.

It was unusual for the sitting President to tell the world that the shooter had been captured with no other information. I’m relieved that the shooter has been captured. I hope there is more information regarding his motives.

First Putin bombed Qatar claiming to be killing Hamas on Qatari soil. Now NATO has shot down some 20 drones from Russia attacking Poland. Putin says it was a mistake, but analysts say the attack let Russia get crucial NATO readiness information for future attacks.

I was reminiscing last night about my younger days. A memory that popped up was Swimland and Summer Fun Day Camp. A group of teachers organized both for something to do during the summer. Our family had no need for a day camp as my mom was always home. But the pool was a 10-minute walk from our house. I spent  lots of summers there, swimming, and getting royally tanned. My swim instructor got me on the swim team…not for my speed, but for my ‘outstanding’ form. I was used at practices to demonstrate the various strokes. I did swim in meets but never made the top three, where I would get a ribbon. My brother joined the team the following year and brought home a boat load of 1st place ribbons every year. It was a good memory.

Historic Figures who died too soon…

Alexander the Great

Alexander the Great died at just 32 years old after he had built one of the largest empires throughout the entirety of history. Had he lived longer, he could've shaped the entire ancient world that much more dramatically.

 Wrong Common Knowledge

Goldfish Have a 3-Second Memory

People love to say that goldfish can’t remember anything past three seconds, but studies show they have much longer memories. In fact, they can remember things for months and even be trained to recognize sounds and patterns.
