Thoughts for the day
A nice September day. Slowly accepting
that fall is just around the corner.
One of the hardest things for me as I
grow old-er: to have a pain in my body I have not had before and not knowing if
it a passing thing or if it will be with me for the foreseeable future. Doctors
have been very helpful in letting me know. I’ve been lucky so far, as pain soon
disappears.
I found this very interesting: 20,000
years ago, Europe and Great Britain were connected by Doggerland. Now it seems
that the Neanderthals had large communities there. Lots is being learned by
underwater radar. It is also believed that Doggerland is near the lost city of
Atlantis.
Putin just visited Mongolia. As I
know, Mongolia is between Russia and China, so a visit seems normal. However,
Mongolia belongs to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC recently issued
an arrest warrant for Putin for his actions in Ukraine. The ICC expected Putin
to be arrested when he deplaned in Mongolia. He wasn’t. Now the ICC and its
members are discussing disciplinary action against Mongolia. I’ll be watching
the news to see how this plays out.

Slang Words…
Paparazzi
- Pop
culture reference point: "La Dolce Vita" (1960)
Paparazzi
is literally the plural form of the word "paparazzo." It became
well-known after filmmaker Federico Fellini released his classic movie "La Dolce Vita,"
which follows a nosy photographer named Paparazzo. The term paparazzi gained
traction when Time magazine used it to describe pushy,
celebrity-hounding photographers as "a ravenous wolf pack."

Answer
Computer keyboards sport letter keys and an “enter”
key, but doors and outdoor space are nowhere to be found on these devices.
Although computer keyboards feel like a modern invention, the recognizable
QWERTY layout on today’s modern keyboard was invented by American inventor
Christopher Latham Sholes way back in 1874.
