Thoughts for the day

Fall has certainly arrived. All good.

I have about 6 houseplants that I have had since soon after I moved here about 15 years ago. Over the winter months two decided they had enough and went to plant heaven in the sky. Today I replaced both with a quick trip to Home Depot. One thing I noticed is that the price has gone up substantially since I bought any houseplants. It’s OK because they add beauty to the house and clean the air to boot.

 Riddles

Poor people have it. Rich people need it. If you eat it you die. What is it?

Random Thoughts…

Saltwater taffy isn’t actually made with saltwater at all. They started calling it that as a joke, a marketing ploy, and it just took off from there.

Everyone wants to be normal, but no one wants to be average.

“Never miss a good chance to shut up.” – Will Rogers

Slang Words…

Bucket list

- Pop culture reference point: "The Bucket List" (2007)

A bucket list describes a list of things a person hopes to achieve in their lifetime. It became a mainstream term thanks to the 2007 film "The Bucket List," in which Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play men with terminal cancer who make a list of things they want to do before they die.

Historic Events

  • 1513 – Vasco de Balboa ‘discovered’ the Pacific Ocean.
  • 1676 – Greenwich Mean Time was established.
  • 1890 – The United States Congress establishes Sequoia National Park.
  • 1957 – Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, is integrated, through the use of United States Army troops.
