Today’s Thoughts
My area got about 3” on new powder snow last night. Roads in town are
wet, side streets are still a little icy. The last storm was very wet snow,
this one made it easy to brush the powder off my vehicle.
While we appreciate the moisture we have gotten in the last week, it does
bring problems. There is now an ‘extreme’ danger of avalanches in the areas
outside our small ski resort. The resort does avalanche mitigation on their
property. No one does that for area outside the resort that is heavily used by
snowshoers and cross-country skiers. I hope they stay safe out there.
The Supreme Court ruled on Trump’s tariffs. For most of his tariffs, he
must try to find another way. He is mad. He told America that the justices are
being influenced by foreign interests, without telling how or who influenced
them. Sounds like another one of his rants with no substance.
I’m still enjoying the Olympics. So many of the ski events didn’t even
exist when I was young. The sport has matured and is much more exciting to watch.
Historic Trivia
The longest-reigning monarch
in history was Louis XIV of France, who ruled for 72 years and 110 days.
How did he manage this? He
ascended to the throne at just 4 years of age and ruled competently enough to
avoid any coup attempts.
Albert Einstein was offered
the presidency of Israel in 1952 but declined
Unsurprisingly, Einstein wanted to continue his career in science, especially considering his political experience was practically zilch.
