Today’s Thoughts
I wasn’t expecting a cloudy day, but here it
is with high clouds covering our blue sky. It’s too bad they won’t drop any
moisture.
The Tucson abduction
of Nancy Guthrie remains at the top of the news. Every day there is new evidence
being found. I keep hoping they find her alive and well. This case has had more
than its share of ‘odd’ or ‘unusual’ findings.
The Olympics
continues to take up a lot of my time. I so enjoy watching the athletes and
hearing the story of how they got to the Olympics.
The more I see on
the internet machine, the more I can appreciate the Bad Bunny performance. He
had so many ‘not so hidden’ messages. Yes, that was a real wedding ceremony. The
couple had invited him to their wedding and he said ‘I think I have a better
idea.’
Trivia
To peter out
To "peter out" means
to dwindle down to nothing. It hearkens to mining in the 1800s, when a vein of
ore would produce little after a promising start. The word peter might be
linked to saltpeter, or potassium nitrate, an ingredient used in gunpowder.
Fast as green grass through a goose
To move as "fast as green grass through a goose" means to go very quickly, and it originated in the rural American South.
