Today’s Thoughts

Lovin’ the sunshine.

I had an eye check up this morning. All good. I didn’t get a reminder call, but checked and made it on time.

About the Super Bowl. Seahawks winning was the highlight. I took some of the sting out of the Broncos loss to the Seahawks. It was a defense game, which was not as exciting as I had hoped, but it worked in the end. I didn’t see any record-breaking commercials this year. I guess I’m too old to understand the Bad Bunny performance, however; after reading and hearing the reviews, it was a great performance. After many of the explanations, he did a great job of showing off his love of the Americas. I learned a lot about Puerto Rico and the view of “America” from his prospective. I need to watch it again to better understand it. His message of love was very well done.

Trivia

Sell someone down the river

Today to "sell someone down the river" means to betray them. Unfortunately, its origins date back to the time of slavery, when enslaved people were sent South down the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

Loaded for bear

To be "loaded for bear" is to be extremely well armed and prepared for conflict. It stems from U.S. hunters of brown bears. The species is extremely dangerous, and hunters use more powerful rifles than they would in other types of hunting.
