Thoughts for the day
A great fall day. Nice!
Today is my brother's birthday. I know he will have a happy one.
Rachael Maddow’s Andrew Young: The Dirty Work is 2 hours every
American should view. A good reminder of for those of us who lived in that
time.
The No Kings demonstration is Flagstaff had a great multi-aged turnout.
The city hall area was packed as about 2000 attended. The participants
peacefully took over the huge lawn in front of city hall, and many were on the
sidewalk for about 3 blocks. The very diverse group carried many homemade
protest signs. I didn’t carry a sign, but enjoyed the camaraderie.
2025 Anniversaries…
2015 Paris Climate Agreement, 10 Years
On December 12, 2015, 195 parties adopted the
Paris Agreement, aiming to hold global warming well below 2°C, with efforts to
limit it to 1.5°C. The treaty entered into force on November 4, 2016. Countries
file nationally determined contributions on set timetables. City halls across
the United States now publish greenhouse gas inventories with tons of CO₂ listed by sector. If you attend a public
meeting, sign in and keep comments under the posted time limit, usually 2 or 3
minutes.
Americans Missing From
Your History Textbook
Alexander Miles’s Automatic Elevator Doors
Alexander Miles studied a simple hazard. Open
elevator shafts killed when doors slid wide and did not close. His 1887 patent
linked car movement to automatic door operation so openings stayed shut unless
a cab was present. The mechanism changed how buildings rose and how safely
people traveled inside them. It is easy to miss because it works. Yet every
smooth stop and closed threshold says the same thing. A safety feature that
fades into the background is doing its job.
Random Thoughts…
Admit it. We've all
tried at least once to keep our eyes open when we sneeze.
I never really "miss" calls, I just ignore them.
In my perfect world mosquitoes would suck fat instead of blood.
