Thoughts for the day

I’m getting used to the nice fall days. The nights just keep getting more chilly.

I was shocked to see President Trump commute the sentence of former Representative George Santos. He will no longer have to serve time. He does not have to pay any fines that were imposed. This is not the America I want.

When Trump put tariffs on China, they stopped buying our soybeans. China is buying their soybeans from Argentina. Farmers have serious financial problems. Then to help prop up Argentina’s economy, he gives them $20 billion. Trump is hoping for regime change in Argentina and has admitted that CIA operatives are in Argentina to help. I just don’t get it.

The ’No Kings’ rally will be 2-4pm at Flagstaff City Hall. I have no sign, but I will be there supporting the peaceful demonstration.

2025 Anniversaries…

2000 Human Genome Draft, 25 Years

On June 26, 2000, researchers announced a working draft of the human genome, covering roughly 90 percent of the sequence. The full project reached its formal completion in April 2003. Early estimates placed human protein-coding genes near 20,000 to 25,000, far fewer than many expected. Classroom posters show chromosome maps and base pair counts. Science museums often run DNA extraction demos with strawberries and dish soap. Follow lab safety signs, wear goggles, and keep food away from benches during any hands-on activity.

Americans Missing From Your History Textbook

Percy Lavon Julian’s Firefighting Foam and Affordable Steroids

Percy Julian turned plant chemistry into practical rescue. His protein-based foam smothered oil and gasoline fires that water could not touch, saving crews and airfields in wartime. He also pioneered cost effective synthesis of steroid drugs, slashing prices for cortisone and opening treatment for pain and inflammation to ordinary patients. Two different lifelines came from the same mind. One stops a blaze, the other calms the body, and both expand who gets help in time.

Random Thoughts…

Problem about doing nothing - you can't tell if you're done yet.

My GPS says "Estimated Arrival Time." I see "Time to Beat."

If you don't have anything nice to say, make sure that you don't say it too loudly.

Money can't buy happiness, but I'd rather cry in a Mercedes than in a box.
