Thoughts for the day
Sunshine, fall weather, all good.
I have one of my meds delivered by FedEx. They give me a 4-hour window
for delivery. That’s important because a signature is needed. I’m not complaining
because the meds are covered by my insurance…without which be over $3000/month
without insurance. Anyway, I was home yesterday all day. I was inside all day.
Somehow, the delivery came but they didn’t ring the doorbell, so I missed the
delivery. It came about 11:30am this morning. I did put a sign on my screen
asking FedEx to ring the bell. They did, I got the meds; all is good.
I had to cancel my lunch with Faith and Andy until next week while I
awaited the meds. We will do lunch again next week.
I think the only way to stop this crazy shutdown, is for Congress not to
be paid during the shutdown. Representatives were sent home early in the
shutdown, which stops all negotiations, and they are all still being paid. If
they have no salary, like the many working Federal Employees, I believe the shutdown
would be solved very quickly.
2025 Anniversaries…
1985 Live Aid, 40 Years
Live Aid took place on July
13, 1985, with concerts at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in
Philadelphia. The global broadcast reached an estimated 1.9 billion viewers in
more than 100 countries, raising funds for famine relief. Queen’s 20 minute set
at Wembley became a rock touchstone. Old ticket stubs list start times and gate
numbers, a window into logistics before smartphones. Modern shows still post
decibel warnings; smart move, bring ear protection for standing areas near
speaker towers.

Your History Textbook
Otis Boykin’s Precision Resistors For Pacemakers©U.S. Department Of Energy U.S.Government
Printing Office, U.S. Department of Energy, 1979, stapled pictorial wraps,
Fine, 25 pages, short biographies & portraits of 24 African American
scientists, Public Domain/Wikimedia Commons
Otis Boykin improved the humble resistor so
circuits could hold steady under heat and vibration, then saw his components
used in avionics, radios, and especially pacemakers. Heart rhythm devices need
predictable resistance to deliver safe pulses. Better parts mean fewer failures
inside a chest where tolerance is narrow, and stakes are high. Boykin’s
portfolio looks quiet at first glance. Then the impact lands. Reliability is a
form of care, and it saves lives one heartbeat at a time.
Random Thoughts…
Colors we pick out
to describe skin tones are never the same as the actual color of the skin.
Ever.
What if every time you forget what you are about to say, it is an author
deleting content from their book.
I am always surprised when I come out of a movie theater and see daylight.
How do we know that the world didn't just start right now with us only having
memories of our lives.
