Today’s Thoughts

It’s windy but not as bad as yesterday. Andy and Faith got their power back, after the APS shutdown for safety.

I had a nice chat with my brother in Madrid. It was around 8am when I called which was about 5pm there. He had a 10-hour flight and all went well. He is in a beautiful part of Madrid and is enjoying it. He couldn’t upgrade his seat, and his assigned seat was in the last row, which doesn’t recline. The stewardess came soon after the flight was up and he got a whole row to himself. Nice!

My annual Medicare Physical went well. All my numbers are good…for a man my age.’ That’s fine with me. He didn’t have any suggestions for my easily bruised thin skin.

I got a note from Camille after my mention of my bruising. She has the same thing. She also said she was at the hospital for tests and had a heart attack at the hospital. She is home now and doing well. Glad to hear the last part.

I am no military genius, but it seems odd to me to have the Navy start a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and a day later fire the Sec. of the Navy. That was never on my bingo card.

How well do you know the U.S. states?

Colorado’s mountainous terrain makes it a paradise for scenic drives, but one road stands above all the rest. Literally.

The Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway climbs to over 14,000 feet above sea level, making it the highest paved road in North America. It visits Echo Lake Park, the Mount Goliath Natural Area, the Dos Chappell Nature Center, and Summit Lake Park, and culminates in the highest peak of the region, Mount Blue Sky (formerly known as Mount Evans). A fee is charged to travel State Highway 5 to the summit, and vehicles over 30 feet long are not allowed for safety reasons.

Florida is the only state that borders both the Atlantic and the Gulf

Florida’s location gives it a special geographic distinction. It is the only U.S. state that borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of America, known globally as the Gulf of Mexico.

This unique positioning helps explain why Florida has so many beaches, marine ecosystems, and one of the longest coastlines in the country, second only to the aforementioned Alaska.
