Today’s Thoughts

I hope everyone gets there taxes filed…deadline is here.

There was a little overnight moisture. Not nearly enough, but still nice.

I’ve been using Walgreens Pharmacy since I quit CVS over a decade ago. The 2 pharmacists and their crew are friendly, compassionate, and always happy to help.
The problem is with their corporate refills. First, I have never been able to call the pharmacy directly. I must do clicks to get to a human and then answer inane questions before they connect to my local pharmacy. They have changed how you get refills. For each script, you must start at the beginning every time. On Friday I renewed 2 scripts…one at 10:16am and one at 10:18am. They were to be at my pharmacy Monday afternoon. Only one came in. The second is due today. When the scripts come, they are in huge bottles…a 90-day supply of some barely cover the bottom of the container. I used to get the pills the very next day, now it is at least a 48 hour wait. I called the corporate offices for the pharmacy, and the guy took down my complaints. He said I would get an email or a text when it was received by some higher up guy. So far, no response. It’s no wonder that Walgreens stock price is so low.

JD Vance has been given several assignments in the past few weeks that have fallen flat. It is like Trump is discrediting him and wants him to leave. Hmmm. The war drags on, the gas prices keep rising, the cost of goods keep rising. I doubt many MAGA people expected this disaster.

Strange Historical Facts

Abraham Lincoln Was a Skilled Wrestler

Before politics, Lincoln was one of the best wrestlers in his county — and possibly the state. He had a reach and strength that made him nearly impossible to beat.

In roughly 300 matches over his career, he reportedly lost only once. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame has honored him with an Outstanding American distinction.

The image of the tall, bookish president doesn’t quite account for this.

A Town in Peru Has Been at War With Itself Every New Year's Day for Centuries

In the town of Santo Tomás in Chumbivilcas province, residents celebrate New Year’s Day with a ritual called Takanakuy, where community members settle disputes through organized fistfights. After the fighting, everyone celebrates together.

It’s considered a way to start the new year with a clean slate — grievances aired, scores settled, grudges officially over. It has roots in pre-Columbian tradition and continues today.

Native American Phrases That Subtly Shaped American English

Live in a Good Way

Common across many tribes, the phrase refers to living with balance, respect, and integrity in all aspects of life. It’s a holistic approach that includes relationships, work, and spiritual practice.

People often use “live in a good way” to describe ethical living and personal fulfillment. Its Indigenous roots give it a depth that goes beyond simple moral advice, connecting it to a broader philosophy of harmony.
