Thoughts for the day

Day 39 of the current shutdown.

Another smoky day due to controlled burns. All the smoke is causing another day of low air quality. I guess a few days of poor air quality is worth it to prevent decades of damage to our forest.

Broncos beat the Raiders with way too many penalties on both sides.

The current administration has never been good at math. I remember when Trump promised a 400% decrease in drug costs…meaning that companies would be paying customers to use their product. Dr. Oz is no exception. In the Oval Office he told Americans that decreasing the price of Ozemipic and other drugs would let the US lose a lot of weight. If his number was right, which is wasn’t even close, every adult American would lose 400 lbs. by using those drugs. I don’t know anyone who wants to lose that much weight.

Raven

In Pacific Northwest stories, the raven is a creative and mysterious figure—a bringer of light, a maker of mischief, or a problem-solver who pushes for progress.

Raven's actions often have surprising, sometimes unintended, positive results.

From Raven's story, listeners learn that perseverance, ingenuity, and embracing change can help spark new beginnings and overcome difficulties, even in dark or confusing times.

Boomers Were Forced to Memorize These Facts—And They’re All Useless Now…

Mount Everest Is the Tallest Mountain in the World

Technically, this one seems true—Everest is the tallest above sea level. But when measured from base to peak, Hawaii’s Mauna Kea is actually taller. And if we go by farthest point from the Earth’s center, a mountain in Ecuador takes the crown. Yet, Everest was drilled into our heads as the tallest without any qualifiers. Turns out, there’s always more to the story than a simple trivia answer.

When you drink alcohol, you’re just borrowing happiness from tomorrow.

Teenagers drive like they’re on borrowed time. Meanwhile, elderly people drive like they’ve got all the time in the world.

Making a typo in an online argument is the equivalent of voice cracking in a verbal argument.
