Thoughts for
the day
Day 42 of the current shutdown. And there may be end coming this week.
A nice fall day. The prescribed burns continue, but smoke today is less
than it has been.
I hope everyone had a good Federal holiday to
honor our vets.
Yesterday I got a bill from the local hospital
for the EKG I had before my colonoscopy last month. The bill said I owed $1350
of the $4800 bill. This morning I called the billing department at the
hospital. They said both Medicare and Blue Cross had paid and that is what I owed
and suggested I call BC for the reason. I called BC and they had no record of
the procedure. The lady said she could place a courtesy call to the hospital to
figure it out. According to her the hospital never sent the bill to either
Medicare or BC and the hospital apologized for this oversight. I won’t know
more for about 90 days but I’m sure I don’t know the hospital money.
Then there was my cable box problem. After my
blood treatment I took my box to the cable company office. I waited about 15
minutes as he worked with another customer. Then he took my broken box, scanned
in the information, got me a new box and scanned the information and handed me
the box. He never called me by name. I got home and the new box worked fine.
Then I went up to my office and turned on the TV. Now that cable box didn’t
work. I called again and about 20 minutes later the box was working. Then this
morning I got an email that I was charged $15 for the new box. I called and got
a terrible young lady who said everything was right. She then said I wasn’t
charged for the second box, but I pulled up my bill and I was charged. I listened
to her for about 15 minutes, told her she wasn’t helping and asked to speak to
her supervisor. She said she didn’t want to waste my time because the supervisor
would tell me the same thing. Then she offered me a package with less channels,
cell phone plan, and internet plan. I told her she was no help, that she shouldn’t
change anything, and I hung up. I’ll see what my bill says.
Now it is time for my phlebotomy. Maybe when
they take out all that blood they can also take out some of the frustration.
Animals From Native American Legends
And What They Symbolize
Fox
The fox is admired for its cleverness and
ability to adapt quickly. Fox stories remind people to use their intelligence
for good reasons, blending in when needed or taking quick action.
They also warn that honesty must balance
trickery—too much slyness might create mistrust.
Fox wisdom helps people stay alert and creative
without losing the trust or support of their community.
Boomers Were Forced to Memorize These
Facts—And They’re All Useless Now…
Einstein
Failed Math
Teachers
loved using this “fact” as proof that even geniuses can struggle in school. But
Einstein himself said it wasn’t true—he was actually excellent at
math. The myth likely started because of a misunderstanding about how German
grading worked. It’s ironic that a fact meant to inspire struggling students
turned out to be completely false.
Random Thoughts…
I owed
blockbuster late fees. My game plan of waiting them out worked, though.
A
different version of you exists in the minds of everyone who knows you.
Someone
out there vividly remembers something you said that you have completely
forgotten.
I wonder
if there are any time combinations on the clock that I’ve never seen.
