Today’s Reflection:
Having a quiet
day. Still improving but decided it was time for a day of being lazy. Everyone
needs one of those days every now and then.
Politics is so crazy these days. Planter suspends his Senate campaign in Maine. There were lots of accusations about his behavior. Sadly, was he suspended his campaign, he blamed the establishment for his withdrawal. Sad. Not enough character to apologize. Then there is Senator Mitch McConnell who has been hospitalized for over 3 weeks. He has not made a video or even a recording regarding his issues. It looks like he is unable or unwilling to retire early from his seat. How long does expect his colleagues to accept his silence. It is also odd that every Republican who says they have spoken to him in the hospital give exact minutes of their conversation…like 16 minutes, 27 minutes, … I doubt people calling me when I was in the hospital had a stop watch who they could tell others exactly how long we talked.
Historical events
Good to know:
Nanabozho and the Great Flood© nativewoodlandart
Half-human and half-spirit, Nanabozho
stands tall in Anishinaabe legends as both creator and trickster. When evil
underwater spirits killed his wolf brother, Nanabozho sought revenge,
triggering a catastrophic flood that covered the world.
Floating on a log with animal
companions, Nanabozho commanded each creature to dive for earth from the bottom
of the waters. After others failed, humble muskrat succeeded, returning with a
tiny paw of soil that Nanabozho magically expanded into the land we know today.
This powerful story mirrors flood narratives found worldwide
while emphasizing uniquely indigenous values: cooperation between humans and
animals, respect for even the smallest creatures, and the earth's rebirth after
destruction.
Picture of the Day:
In the midst
of an evening dust bath, a Greater Roadrunner stands proudly, backlit by the
sun. Brilliant, golden light exposes white-tipped tail feathers that contrast
with downy feathers fanning out from its sides. Dust from a recent roll in the
dirt lingers in the air. Carolina Fraser/Audubon Photography Awards/2021
