Today’s Thoughts
Mostly cloudy…just
awaiting the next snow storm.
A 4.8 earthquake
woke many in NYC and NJ this morning. No injuries or damage has been reported.
It’s still freaky.
I’m looking forward
to a nice weekend, even with the snow.
A friend and hunting
buddy from Tuba is in the hospital in Phoenix. He is in his early 50’s and has diabetes.
He is also on weekly dialysis. Now he had to have his leg, below the knee, amputated.
His family says he is healing and in good spirits under the circumstances.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Shoot
from the hip
To
"shoot from the hip" means to act or speak impulsively without much
forethought. It comes from the American West, when a gunslinger would fire from
the hip without taking the weapon out of the holster. The shot would be more
quick than accurate.
Native Cultures
Pocahontas
And John Smith Did Not Fall In Love
The
belief that there was a romantic relationship between John Smith and Pocahontas
makes for a great story and the plot of a popular Disney animated musical.
However, there is no historical proof that it was true. The truth is that
Pocahontas was nearly 12 years old when she first met 28-year-old John Smith.
Their
real-life interactions where few and far in between. Some historians agree that
there was a friendship that developed between Pocahontas and John Smith, but
that their platonic bond did not go any further than that.
Historical Myths many believe…
The
Salem Witch Trials Were All About Witchcraft
The
infamous Salem witch trials of 1692 are often portrayed as a hunt for witches
in the small, pagan community of Salem, Massachusetts. However, the events that
began the hysteria and capital punishment were fueled by various factors,
including religious fervor, political rivalries, and personal grievances
between townspeople, as well as suspicions of witchcraft.
