‡‡My Rambling Thoughts‡‡
A tad windy, but still a nice day, at least there
are no gusts and no sand. Storm must be brewing. Ready for a nice weekend.
After working with kids for decades, I know this
about fights…they seldom start with a hit (lots has happened before the first
blow), once the first blow is thrown, more will follow, figuring out why that
first punch was swung takes a long time to figure out with lots of questions to
the involved persons in separate rooms. One last thing, if one doesn’t figure
out why the fight started and get both students to agree on a solution, the
fight will just happen again.
Thinking about this as I try to figure out the US
bombing of Syria. Will wait a little while before commenting more. Have to see
what follows.

‡‡ Joke For The Day‡‡
A friend hosted a dinner party for people from work
and everyone was encouraged to bring their children. All during the sit-down
dinner one co-worker's three-year-old girl stared at the man sitting across
from her. The girl could hardly eat her food from staring.
The man checked his tie, felt his face for food, patted his hair in place, but nothing stopped her from staring at him. He tried his best to just ignore her but finally it was too much for him. He asked her, "Excuse me little girl, but why do you keep staring at me?"
Everyone at the table had noticed her behavior, and the table went quiet for her response. The little girl said, "I just want to see how you drink like a fish."

‡‡Yep, It Really Happened‡‡
*---------- She Went Out With a Bang ----------*
A Florida man was sentenced to five years in prison after his wife died in a crash while the couple was having sex while driving. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the driver and his wife had just left a country music concert where they had been drinking. The pair was having sex when they drove into a canal. The crash left the wife dead and the driver severely injured. At the hospital, deputies confirmed he was drunk. In a police report, authorities said the driver admitted to being naked and that his wife was sitting on his lap when he drove off the end of the road and struck the opposite canal.

‡‡Somewhat Useless Information‡‡
Ancient down-filled quilts have been discovered
through archeological digs in Norway, leading scientists to attribute the first
use of goose down to the Vikings.
***
Because its properties enable people to regulate
their natural body temperature and maintain warmth, lightweight goose down is
used to fill comforters, pillows, and outerwear such as vests and coats.
***
The down in these items takes the form of clusters,
similar to snowflakes. The clusters have fine filaments radiating out in every
direction; these filaments expand and form air pockets that trap body heat, a
process called "lofting."

‡‡How our states were named‡‡
North Carolina
King Charles II of England, who granted
a charter to start a colony in modern-day North Carolina, named the land in
honor of his father, Charles I. Carolina comes from Carolus,
the Latin form of Charles.

John Harvey Kellogg
While often attributed to George Washington Carver
- the renowned botanist who focused on peanuts in much of his work - the
invention of peanut butter as we know it today can be traced more to Dr. John
Harvey Kellogg. The creator of Kellogg's cereal patented a process in 1895 for
creating peanut butter from raw peanuts, marketing the resulting concoction as
a nutritious protein substitute for people suffering from toothaches and jaw
ailments that might prevent them from eating solid foods. Source: National

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is
usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every
site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites
simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally
accurate.
