‡‡My
Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Decent
day. The snow is gone…got about ¾” last night with high winds. Today is cool
but nice as the snow disappears. Just before I had to take in my taxes, I got
an angioedema attack, on my lip. Took my pills but still have a little swelling
that I can see, but others don’t seem to notice. I left my documents with the
tax guy and he will call me when they are ready.
Sorry
to see Gonzaga lose, but like NC State. Why, you ask. Well back when I was
working at Tonalea, I was responsible for setting up the new 6th-8th
grades. Among other things, that meant hiring coaches for CC, Basketball, Track
for both boys and girls. The board had selected Columbia Blue and White as the
school colors. That happens to be the colors of NC State. However, when
ordering uniforms those colors were NOT ‘standard’ colors. After several
missteps by the purchasing agent in Tuba, we finally got the uniforms we
needed. She claimed that she found our uniforms at a cheaper price, but they
wouldn’t be Columbia Blue. I told her she would have to come to the next board
meeting to explain to the board that they would have to change the school
colors. She declined my invitation and ordered the Columbia Blue uniforms. A
few years later or gym roof sprung a leak after a big snow storm. The water
damaged our wooden floor in the gym. It had to be refinished and we were able
to get our school colors on the gym floor. All turned out good. But since those
days, I always enjoy watching NC State play.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL:
A
very religious woman told the tax guy’s manager that God has a purpose for
putting Trump into office and God will make sure that everything works out.
Huh? Really?!?
I
remember being an elementary student when JFK was running and there was talk
about the Pope would be our President if JFK was elected. He got on TV and set
the record straight. He won and the Pope stayed in Rome.
Too
many people in this country just see Trump as part of God’s plan.

‡‡ Joke
For The Day‡‡
My
sister was busy getting ready to host our entire family for Easter. On her
to-do list was a hair appointment for her daughter.
"So, Katie," said the stylist as the little girl got up in the chair,
"who’s coming to your house this weekend with big ears and floppy
feet?"
Katie replied, "I think it’s my Uncle Brian."

It Really Happened‡‡

Virginia Police Arrest Sword-Carrying Joker -*
Police in Virginia said they arrested a man dressed as Batman villain The Joker
after receiving several calls about him walking around with a sword. The
Winchester Police Department said it received several calls about 2 p.m. Friday
about a "suspicious male" dressed as The Joker walking along city
roads while wearing a black cape and carrying a sword. Apparently Batman has
never been popular in Winchester as The Joker has never worn a cape or used a sword.
Nevertheless, 31-year-old Jeremy Putman was arrested and charged with wearing a
mask in public. It is odd that he was charged with wearing a mask in public and
not carrying a weapon, but the police reminded the public in a Facebook post
about the arrest, "Please remember -- it is a Felony to wear a mask or
cover your face in public."

‡‡Somewhat
Useless Information‡‡
The
adrenaline rush you get when you jump out of a plane or run a marathon is
essentially the same rush you get from kissing. The neurotransmitters that fire
when you're kissing cause the heart to beat faster and the breath to become
deeper.
***
Sideshows at the Olympic games of ancient Greece included kissing competitions.
How one would have judged such a thing is hard to know, but similar
competitions still crop up from time to time, usually for fund-raising purposes
or simply for spectacle's sake.
***
The first on-film kiss occurred between John C. Rice and May Irwin in the movie
The Kiss (1896).

Jimmy
Carter
Believe
it or not, Carter, born Oct. 1, 1924, in Georgia and the 39th U.S. president,
was the first commander in chief to be delivered at a hospital. His accent and
Southern background were as synonymous with his public image as his family's
peanut farm. As of this writing, he and George H.W. Bush are tied as the oldest
living former U.S. presidents, as both of them are at the ripe age of 92.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with
at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes
and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
