‡‡My Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Been a less than fruitful day on the phone, trying to get information on some of my taxes. The new guy says I owe a huge sum and it just can’t be right. I hate tax time but will gladly pay the taxes I owe. Just won’t pay more than I should. Turns out the problem K-1 has been losing money and has now closed. During the time it was losing, each year I used the loss to lower my tax bill. Now I have to pay the piper, but I took off losses much greater than what I owe. Confused? So am I but I can live with this.

Had a great Easter dinner with friends. My ham was a success as were all the other dishes. Great way to spend the holiday. So nice to watch families grow and change. Hard to believe so many 'little kids' are not married and have kids of their own.

‡‡ Joke For The Day‡‡
A soldier in my National Guard platoon became concerned when the Army insisted that he sign up for direct deposit. "It’s not going to work for me," he said, panicked.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because I use my Guard pay for spending money."

"So?"

"For the past ten years, I’ve been telling my wife that I serve for free!"

‡‡Yep, It Really Happened‡‡
A man carrying what was described as a "samurai" sword was tackled by a worker inside a Pennsylvania bar.

Tina Malachi, a server in Rookie's Craft Burger Bar, said the man, who wasn't wearing a shirt, walked in and sat at the bar. When he got up and walked into the pool room she asked him to put on a shirt, which is when she saw the sword.

Another employee sitting at the bar stood up and looked at the man, and the man then raised the sword up with both arms, said the worker. The employee ducked under the man's arms and grabbed him from behind, tackling him to the ground, assisted by some customers. They held him down until police arrived.

The man was arrested for summary warrants and the sword was confiscated, said Capt. Gabriel Olivera of Harrisburg police.

‡‡Somewhat Useless Information‡‡
Bears, seals, and dogs are closely related carnivores but are on a different branch of the evolutionary tree than cats and hyenas.

Some snakes have hipbones, which shows they once had four legs like lizards, their close cousins.

Inside some whales and dolphins are small bones that show they once had back legs and that their ancestors walked on land. These occasionally reappear as tiny rear flippers.

Darwin did not argue that humans came from monkeys. Rather he wrote only that monkeys, apes, and humans have a common ancestor.

A hobbit-like species of human lived about 18,000 years ago. About the size of a 3-year-old, they lived with pygmy elephants and 10-foot-long lizards.

‡‡How our states were named‡‡
Vermont
Derived from the French words vert (“green”) and mont (“mountain”). Samuel Peters claimed that he christened the land with that name in 1763 while standing on top of a mountain, saying, “The new name is Vert-Mont, in token that her mountains and hills shall be ever green and shall never die." Most historians would disagree, as would Thomas Young, the Pennsylvania statesman who suggested that his state’s constitution be used as the basis for Vermont's and is generally credited with suggesting the name to maintain the memory of the Green Mountain Boys, the militia organization formed to resist New York’s attempted take-over of the area.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
