Today’s Thoughts

Really nice spring day. I took a walk though the neighborhood with no jacket.

It must be spring. I cleaned out my vehicle, vacuumed the interior, then did a super wash & wax instead of the regular wash. I’m ready for good weather.

My lunch group all headed to Phx for the Easter holiday. No weekly lunch today.

Interesting: The US has 4% of the world population and hold 40% of civilian firearms.

Sorry to read of Senator Joe Liberman’s passing at 82. It happened at the hospital after a fall at home.

Got an extra $59.99 laying around. You can buy the new ‘bible’ being sold by Trump along with Lee Greenwood, the singer of ‘God Bless the USA’. It is a King James version with a copy of the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and the Pledge of Allegiance. So much an affront to Separation of Church and State.

Terms with origins in rural America

Open a can of worms

To "open a can of worms" means to cause a multitude of problems in the process of trying to solve one. It dates to the 1950s when fishermen would buy sealed metal cans of earthworms for bait, and opening the can to get one worm could mean many would crawl out.

Native Cultures

'Spirit Animal' Remarks Are Culturally Appropriative

It is popular to refer to certain animals as a "spirit animal." This is typically used in conversations, television show scripts and even certain stage productions. What most people do not realize is that referring to something as your "spirit animal" is viewed as cultural appropriation and can be exceptionally harmful and offensive to Native Americans.

Historical Myths many believe…

The Mona Lisa Was Smiling

The woman’s enigmatic smile in DaVinci’s world-famous ‘Mona Lisa’ is one of the painting’s most debated aspects. Scholars have interpreted her expression as a subtle smile, a smirk, a sad acceptance, or even an ambiguous neutrality. The true meaning behind her expression is entirely unknown, lost to history after the artist’s death.
