Today’s Quote                                                         Today’s Meme

Today’s Thoughts

More weird weather: snow, rain, grapple with nothing sticking yet.

Our retirement group met for lunch. Everybody is doing good. Good food, great conversation. All good.

SpaceX’s latest starship made it to monumental heights, then lost on reentry. Their launches remind me of the early 1960’s when the US was preparing for astronauts in space.

Many supporters in Congress are getting tired of Israel’s top government and are calling for a new elections over there. It seems like even Dems are standing for the people of Israel, but not the current government. Peace in Gaza seems to be the priority.

America’s Top Attractions

1970s: Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, California

Alcatraz Island’s history is far reaching, serving as a fortress and military jail since the mid-19th century. It became the world-famous federal penitentiary, known as The Rock, in 1934 and housed some of America’s most infamous felons, including Al Capone, until it closed in 1963. The island became part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in 1972 and opened to the public as an attraction a year later. Today, it usually welcomes around one million tourists annually.

Influential Native Americans…

Joy Harjo

America's first Indigenous poet laureate, Joy Harjo wants her writing to reflect the humanity of her people. Her work is guided by the need for justice and the desire for respect experienced by the Indigenous community. Harjo lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation member whose grandfather endured the tragedies of the Trail of Tears. Harjo was an artist and an activist growing up, and today, she elevates her people and honors the spirits of her ancestors with every word.
