Today’s Thoughts

Nice spring day. Another snow storm due tomorrow. Gotta love Spring.

I headed to Sam’s for weekly purchases. All good.

I really enjoy technology when it works. About 2 weeks ago my iWatch needed an update. I tried 3 times but the update wouldn’t load on my iPhone. I gave up trying to load it. Yesterday there was another new update. I tried to download the update and it only went about half-way then stopped downloaing. After Sam’s I stopped at Best Buy for their Geek help. The tech guy worked on it for an hour an half with me standing there. It finally downloaded and everything is great again. I asked him how to avoid this. He showed me how to do a full stop shutdown and said, that might help. He said both the phone and the watch are tiny computers running 24/7 and sometimes they just glitch and full stop shutdown is necessary. While I was there, 2 others came in with the exact same problem.

I found it interesting, this all happened a day after the huge Apple suit by the government.

Princess Kate announced she has cancer. She did a great job of sharing the information.

Moscow just had a terrorist attack. Hope we learn more soon.

Terms with origins in rural America

Jump on the bandwagon

To "jump on the bandwagon," or to adopt an idea once it is successful or popular, stems from early America when musicians rode in a wagon on their way to a parade or rally, and people would rush to follow.

Influential Women

Harriet Tubman (1820-1913). Tubman escaped from slavery in 1849 and became a famous “conductor” of the Underground Railroad. Tubman risked her life to lead hundreds of slaves to freedom using that secret network of safe houses. (Recommended biography here.)

Historical Myths many believe…

The Roman Empire Fell in 476 AD

In 476 AD, the Western Roman Empire officially collapsed after being overrun by Germanic tribes from the north, but that was only half of the area occupied and controlled by the Romans. The Eastern Roman Empire, also known as the Byzantine Empire, thrived for another thousand years until 1453.

Influential Native Americans…

Sharice Davids

A member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin, Representative Sharice Davids was a professional athlete, business owner, lawyer, and nonprofit executive before she was elected to Congress in January 2019. As one of the two Indigenous American women serving in Congress, Davids is dedicated to reducing poverty, creating safe working conditions, and closing the pay gap for Indigenous women.
