Thoughts for the day

I lost a friend from Tuba last night. April was only 54 and while she had a pacemaker, was not ill. I met her when her dad was assistant BIA superintendent. After he left the Bureau, he opened an insurance company in Tuba. His family has run it for several decades. April started out as the bookkeeper and was a part owner. She had 4 grown children and many grandchildren. She will be missed.

A few weeks ago, I commented on bats being inside a dorm at our local university. One had rabies and precautions where taken. Yesterday, more bats were inside several rooms. The dorm and its 550 residents were evacuated. No one has been bitten, but removing the bats will take some time.

I was saddened to hear that a 6th grade male teacher at Tuba Boarding was arrested after evidence became public that he had been masturbating in his classroom when students were not around. He was hired last year. This is obviously disgusting. Now that the FBI is involved, they are investigating who knew what when. Several groups of parents have protested at the local police station wanting many answers. I am hoping that the administration did not do any kind of coverup. The students, staff, parents, and community need answers to begin the healing process.

 Riddles

Until I am measured, I am not known. Yet how you miss me when I have flown. What am I?

Random Thoughts…

The first feature film created solely with Computer Generated Imagery (CGI or CG) was “Toy Story”, in 1995.

Every day, half of all the lawyers in the world are proven wrong.

People born blind use the same facial expressions as sighted people when expressing emotions, meaning that our facial expressions are innate and not learned behavior.

Wonder Woman was created by psychologist and inventor of the lie detector test, William Marston.

Charlton Heston narrated for highly classified military and Department of Energy instructional films, particularly relating to nuclear weapons. For six years, he held the nation’s highest security clearance.

Native American Facts…

Native American Tribes Used Sophisticated Agricultural Techniques

Contrary to the stereotype of Native Americans as simple hunter-gatherers, many tribes developed advanced agricultural practices that sustained large populations. The Hopi people of the Southwest, for example, used dry farming techniques to grow crops in the arid desert landscape.

The Three Sisters planting method, used by many Native American tribes, involved interplanting corn, beans, and squash. This symbiotic relationship allowed the crops to support and nourish each other, resulting in higher yields and healthier soil. These sustainable farming practices have gained renewed interest in recent years as we seek ways to feed a growing population while preserving the environment.

Historic Events

  • 1691 – The charter for the Province of Massachusetts Bay was issued.
  • 1916 – Georgia Tech beat Cumberland 222-0 in the most lopsided college football game of all time.
