Thoughts
for the day
I got my last vaccine today, the RSV one.
All good. Ready for my trip next week to Mexico.
Bob Woodard’s new book says that Trump
sent Covid test kits to Putin, at the height of the pandemic when there was a
need for these test kits here. I’m not surprised by this revelation.
I’m looking forward to this break in Mexico…no
politics, no computer challenges. Just warm weather, great conversations, a
beautiful scenery.

The Ghost Dance Movement
Sought to Revitalize Native American Cultures
In the late 19th century, the
Ghost Dance movement emerged among Native American tribes as a response to the
devastating impact of colonization and forced assimilation. The spiritual
movement, which originated with the Paiute prophet Wovoka, promised a return to
traditional ways of life and the restoration of Native lands.
Participants in the Ghost
Dance believed that performing the sacred dance would bring about a new era of
peace, prosperity, and unity for Native American people. The movement spread
rapidly across the West; alarming U.S. authorities who feared it would lead to
an uprising.
Tragically, the Ghost Dance
movement came to a violent end with the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890, where
U.S. soldiers killed over 250 Lakota men, women, and children. Despite its
suppression, the Ghost Dance remains a powerful symbol of Native American resistance
and cultural revitalization.
