‡‡My
Rambling Thoughts‡‡
Cloudy,
windy, cooler than yesterday, but still nice. Looks like rain, but doesn’t
smell like it, yet.
Caught
up with my Sunday morning News shows. Only good news out of it was that a
moderate won the election in France. If the other candidate had won, I would
have been the end of the EU, and France would have had a crazy rightest at the
helm. I do have to say that I did not appreciate, nor did I think it was
appropriate for Obama to endorse a candidate. The people of each country must
make their own decisions and the US and its citizens need to let that happen
without any interference. I do agree with any probes into interference in our
elections. With the last minute inaccurate dump of information in the French
election, I hope the French people demand an investigation. Maybe this is the
time for the UN to expand its voter watching programs to include interference
by ANY country in elections outside their borders, and not stay limited to the
actual voting process. Our country is far from innocent in helping certain
candidates in certain countries and harming other candidate’s reputations. It
is time for all that nonsense to stop, worldwide.

‡‡ Joke
For The Day‡‡
"Johnny,
where's your homework?" Miss Martin said sternly to the little boy, while
holding out her hand.
"My dog ate it," was his solemn response.
"Johnny, I have been a teacher for eighteen years. Do you really expect me
to believe that?"
"It's true, Miss Martin, I swear," insisted Johnny. "I had to
force him, but he ate it!"

‡‡Yep,
It Really Happened‡‡
*------
I Like Big Butts and I Cannot Lie ------*
Customs officials in Arizona said a woman attempting to cross the border from
Mexico disguised $45,000 worth of heroin as her buttocks. U.S. Customs and
Border Protection said the 47-year-old woman, a U.S. citizen from Arizona, was
referred for further inspection when she attempted to cross the border from
Mexico to Nogales in a pedestrian lane. The woman was searched and
investigators discovered she had nearly 3 pounds of heroin, worth more than
$45,000, strapped to her backside inside her pants. The woman and the seized
drugs were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland
Security Investigations.

‡‡Somewhat
Useless Information‡‡
Weddings
in Cuba can be difficult to afford. To have enough money for the honeymoon, the
guests at the wedding do a money dance. Every man who dances with the bride
pins money on your dress.
***
At Jewish weddings at which the parents' last child is married, a special dance
called the Mizinke is performed. The bride and groom give the parents crowns of
flowers to wear, and guests make a circle and dance around them, coming forward
to wish them 'mazel tov.'
***
In Yemen, the groom's father throws raisins on the ground for guests to pick
up. Raisins are meant to symbolize happiness for the happy couple.

Ordnung
Every
society needs a list of rules, and for Amish people these directives are called
the Ordnung, which is a German word that means order. As you might expect, it
sets up the expectations for the community and what members can do. However,
not all Amish groups are as strict as they might appear. Some agree to appear
in photographs and use the phone, and the specific rules for clothing can vary
as well. Source: National Geographic, Amish Studies

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with
at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes
and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
