Today’s Reflection:

Yet another nice summer day. No complaints.

While my brother is visiting New Orleans, he has picked up a bug. He is missing out of some of the events but is getting better.

I am enjoying the PBS series Resolve to Solve. This week it was the work going into re-wilding parts of Argentina and also measuring glacial decay in Antarctica.

Our local NPR radio station, KNAU, has a new catchphrase for its fundraising. “The government told us to go fund ourself…so we did.”

Historical events

6 Sept History video

Cool to know:

Pumpkins, squash and gourds are all technically the same species.

That's right, your zucchini and Jack o' lanterns are one and the same: Cucurbita pepo, a species that originated in Mexico more than 10,000 years ago. Farmers have since developed the many cultivars we know and use today.

Colorado Wildlife:

Jackrabbits are, properly speaking, not rabbits but hares, like the snowshoe hare. Hares have longer feet than rabbits and usually have longer ears. Most hares live in open country, whereas cottontails live in brushy habitats. Perhaps the most important distinction between them is that cottontails are born blind, nearly naked and helpless. Hares, by contrast, are born fully furred and ready to hop. The black-tailed jackrabbit is also known as the American desert hare.
