Brain Teasers
(answers at the end of post)
Behead F
Language brain teasers are those
that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words
and letters.
Difficulty: 1.5/4
When you behead a word, you remove
the first letter and still have a valid word. You will be given clues for the
two words, longer word first.
Example: Begin -> Sour, acidic
Answer: The words are Start and Tart.
1. A trip through the air -> Illumination; not heavy
2. Travelling through the air -> Not telling the truth
3. True statement -> Part of a play; something done
4. Straightforward; blunt -> Position in a hierarchy
5. Cord for igniting an explosive -> To employ; exploit
6. An example of a number -> Belonging to us
7. To put in as much as possible -> Unwell; sick
8. High body temperature -> At any time; at all times

Under the light of the full moon, a man solemnly prays, surrounded by offerings of flowers swirling in the sacred waters that pour into a pool at the Tirta Empul temple in Gianyar Village on the island of Bali in Indonesia. This photograph was part of the Sacred Water story I did for National Geographic, an edit which was in the final projection, falling to the editing floor, never appearing in the magazine, sharing this lovely moment to all the #natgeo followers from my former home, Bali.

Why Do Hens Do That
Why do hens lay eggs?
Because if they were throwing them, they’d break.

An old man gets out of prison, after
many years being locked up. He stands at the pavement, and yells, "I'm
free! I'm free!"
As he shouts, a little kid walks up to him happily and joins, “I’m four! I’m four!"

Yep, It Really Happened
*------------ Cookie Monster Pulls Gun ------------*
A tourist assaulting Spider-Man in New York
seems tame when compared to the costumed criminal in this story. The Kent County
Michigan Sheriff's Department said that a man dressed as Cookie Monster entered
the Tropical Smoothie shop and pulled out a weapon. He ordered a drink, and
fled from the store without paying for the item. The manager of the store
immediately called the police, but the suspect managed to escape. Police
recovered the weapon used in the robbery. The following day, the police managed
to arrest the suspect, who was not identified.

Somewhat Useless Information
While men tend to die earlier than
women of natural causes, they also account for 94 percent of all on-the-job
fatalities, even though they barely represent 50 percent of the U.S. workforce.
Men are also four times more likely than women to be murdered, and 10 times more likely to commit murder.
Men are also four times more likely than women to be murdered, and 10 times more likely to commit murder.
Worldwide, there are approximately 107 baby boys born for every 100 baby girls. Scientists believe the elevated birth rate in favor of boys may be linked to the higher mortality rates of boys in infancy and childhood.
The brains of adult men are about 10 percent larger in total size than the brains of women. Because men generally have a larger stature and more muscle mass than women, their brains require more neurons to control the body.

Ways to Spot an
American Abroad
Your Accent
This isn't really something anyone
can help. As hilarious as other peoples' attempts are to "do an American
accent"—America is a huge country with tons of different accents—the
timbre of your voice is still a massive giveaway.
