A
new month begins. Time to get ready for fall…I’m not ready for that yet. The
new month also brings a new look to this blog.
It
was announced this morning that Messie is retiring from the Argentinian Soccer
team. He has been a force in soccer.
Two
have died and up to 15 missing are in the Grand Canyon after severe flash flooding.
Bob and I did a long river trip through the Grand Canyon. It was a great
adventure with lots of great memories. We did have to sign a declaration that
this was a dangerous trip that could easily end with injury or death.
Thankfully we didn’t have those problems, but this flash flood shows how easily
it could have been. Thankful that we had a safe trip.

Colorado Wildlife:
Band-tailed pigeons (bandtails) are
members of the Columbidae family, which includes pigeons and doves. They are
named for the broad gray band across the tip of their tail. The bandtail could
be confused with the rock dove (feral pigeon) because of their similarity in
size and posture. Rock doves, however, are highly variable in color and usually
show a white rump patch. A distinctive characteristic of bandtails (compared to
feral pigeons) is their yellow bill tipped with black and yellow legs and feet.
The range of the two species in general does not overlap.

To feed its chick, a puffin parent will
carry around 10 fish in its beak at one time, but the biggest recorded haul is
a whopping 62 fish, according to Audubon
