Today’s Thoughts
Very chilly today. At noon we climbed to 33°. My dental cleaning and check up went well. I’m totally
baffled by my Federal BC/BS insurance. According to the Dental office staff, my
dental coverage doesn’t cover X-rays or cleanings. I’ve got to do some
research about that. Yesterday’s 6” of snow was just powder, so very easy to
clean the car and to drive out of my parking space. I’ve got no problem with
that. After no shoveling yesterday, HOA was out early this morning to clear
walks. The only problem is that the snow stopped yesterday, and many people
walked on the un-shoveled sidewalk so the crew this morning couldn’t remove
much of the frozen trampled snow. I’ll survive, just disappointed. Our next storm is due just before the weekend. Hoping for
the best. |
Important inventions…
1972: Electronic Ignition Chrysler paves the way for the era of electronic—rather
than mechanical—advances in automobiles with the electronic ignition. It leads to
electronic control of ignition timing and fuel metering, harbingers of more
sophisticated systems to come. Today, these include
electronic-control-transmission shift points, antilock brakes,
traction-control systems, steering, and airbag deployment. |

Untrue myths about
Colonial America…States that never
made the map
The Puritans Were Escaping from
Religious Persecution And Preached Religious Freedom While it's not untrue that many
Puritans came to America to escape religious persecution, when they arrived,
they certainly weren't open-minded either. They had become just as bad as
their counterparts in England and even began banishing people whose beliefs
did not match their own. In the case of four men who fled
Boston from England - they were eventually hanged in Boston. This is a common
misconception because the United States likes to see itself as a symbol of
freedom, and a place where people can and could go to be free. |
