Today’s Thoughts
It’s overcast today, with moisture expected
later tonight. Yesterday’s recall turned out great.
When I made the appointment, the guy said about 2 hours to fix it. When I got
there, they said about an hour. I got there at 1:58. Turned in my keys and sat
down with my iPad in the waiting room. At 2:31 I was driving home. Less than ½
hour makes more sense for a software update. Happy Camper. I am old-school when it comes to
politicians. I don’t think out of district voters should send money to
candidates. I don’t believe in PACs that beg for money for candidates I will
never see on my AZ ballot. Both seem wrong. If their candidate is not going
to be on my ballot, I’m not sending money to them to help them get elected. |
Weird History…
King Don Pedro Of Portugal Made His
Subjects Worship the Corpse of His Former King Don Pedro of Portugal was a man
who lived life to the fullest. His reign in the 1300s was marked by his
passionate and wild nature, and one of his most bizarre acts was making his
subjects worship the corpse of his former love. It's almost too strange to be
true, but it is indeed an actual historical fact! During his lifetime, King
Don Pedro had a tumultuous relationship with Ines de Castro, whom he eventually married after her
death. He then ordered that all of his subjects bow down
before her remains as a sign of respect for their union. This unusual act has
been remembered throughout history and serves as a reminder of the power of
love and loyalty. |

inventions
1984: DNA Fingerprinting Molecular biologist Alec Jeffreys devises a way to make
the analysis of more than 3 billion units in the human DNA sequence much more
manageable by comparing only the parts of the sequence that show the greatest
variation among people. His method quickly finds its way into the courts,
where it is used to exonerate people wrongly accused of crimes and to finger the
true culprits. |
Untrue myths about
Colonial America…States that never
made the map
Pregnant Women Hid Themselves Some have proposed that during pregnancy, women of
all classes would go into seclusion until they had eventually given birth to
the baby. However, this is far from the truth as there was too much work to
do for poor and middle-class women to stay indoors, and the upper-class women
simply didn't want to. According to Linda Baumgarten, the Colonial
Williamburg's curator of textiles, pregnant women at the time not only went
outside for work but enjoyed active social lives such as dining with friends
and staying involved with the church, which many diaries from the time have
proven. |
