My Rambling Thoughts
Beautiful Friday.
Shocked is the only word I have for the events of the past few days. I think I now know how my parents felt during the turbulent late 60’s. They knew there were many things wrong, but really didn’t know what to do to make it right.
The crazy in Dallas, Texas, an open carry state, turned his rage on the police. Wonder why the NRA and 2nd amendment people are silent? This appears to be the insanity of the 2nd amendment, to protect from the government. Really? I sure hope not. Where are our statesmen? Why isn’t somebody crafting a sensible bipartisan gun control bill? Oh, it has to do with $$$ from lobbyists? It is time for change.

The Doctor Needs A Wrench
A woman with a minor injury was at the hospital because her doctor said she wanted to take a closer look at it to make sure everything was all right. The woman's husband sits patiently in the waiting room.
After a few minutes, the doctor comes out and asks her assistant for a wrench, which understandably concerns the husband.
Then, after a couple more moments, the doctor re-enters the room, this time asking for a screwdriver. The husband grows worried and begins to pace in circles. Then, a little later, the doctor bursts through the doors screaming for a hammer and at that, the husband, in a state of frenzied fear, runs up and asks, "Doctor, what the heck is wrong with my wife?"
"I don't know," replies the flustered doctor, "I can't get my bag open!"

Somewhat Useless Information
They may be creepy, they may be crawly, and in a very few instances they may even be deadly, but spiders are a widely diverse and fascinating species which is which is absolutely essential to a healthy ecosystem.
***
There are approximately 38,000 known species of spiders. Scientists believe there are probably as many more to be discovered.
***
Spiders are found on every continent except Antarctica.
***
An estimated 1 million spiders live in one acre of land. The number might be closer to 3 million in the tropics. It is estimated that a human is never more than 10 feet away from a spider--ever.
***
Spiders are vital to a healthy ecosystem. They eat harmful insects, pollinate plants, and recycle dead animal and plants back into the earth. They are also a valuable food source for many small mammals, birds, and fish.
***
The silk in a spider's web is five times stronger than a strand of steel that is the same thickness. A web made strands of spider silk as thick as pencil could stop a Boeing 747 jumbo jet in flight. Scientists still cannot replicate the strength and elasticity of a spider's silk.
***
The world's biggest spider is the goliath spider (Theraphosa blondi). It can grow up to 11 inches wide, and its fangs are up to one inch long. It hunts frogs, lizards, mice, and even small snakes and young birds. The world's smallest spider is the Patu marplesi. It is so small that 10 of them could fit on the end of a pencil.

Trivia Hive  Answers
88,000
According to the CDC, excessive alcohol use or alcohol abuse "led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010". One in every ten deaths among working-age adults 20-64 years old was due to excessive alcohol consumption. Maybe you're thinking since you only drink a half-a-bottle of wine a night, we are clearly not talking about you but if you're a lady excessive drinking is 8 alcoholic drinks a week (and wine is considered a 5-oz pour) I know, I know. We were just as shocked. This message has been brought to you by your friendly worker bees. Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
