My Rambling Thoughts
Nice day. Started laying out my trip stuff. Next Sunday I’ll be sitting in airports and finally in Denver. Getting excited.
So saddened by the activity in Baton Rouge. Cannot understand the killing of cops…especially innocent ones.

I was a school administrator when Columbine happened. Over the next months and years I saw how it changed every school in the US. We suddenly had several positions for ‘security guards’ during the school day. Previously, because we were a boarding school we had ‘security guards’ who roamed the campus all night, making sure no students attempted an AWOL or broke into the school canteen. Then we had day security guards who wandered the campus during the day. Not much after that all employees had to wear name tags…called security badges. Many other ‘security’ features were added over the years, and while the process was fairly slow, it completely changed the school atmosphere. For our security staff, everyone in their view was a potential problem. Our school had a full staff of over 250, and the new guards knew no one. We had over 1000 students, and all had relatives that would visit them on campus. Staff knew most of the relatives and if a stranger showed up, they knew our pre-Columbine protocol which was to call the office and verify the visitor. Now the protocol was to call the security team and have the ‘intruder’ escorted to the office. This is not how a school should be preparing the youth for the world.

The police are here to serve and protect. With the changes since 9/11 they have been trained to be very suspicious of everyone…like our security guards at school. Now some crazies have decided that killing cops is the answer. Our country is in for some big changes and many of us are not going to like them. And even fewer of us are going to be able to do anything about it.

It is a clay pan that was once filled with water which allowed these trees to grow. Over time the sand dunes have encroached on the area causing the trees to die. A graveyard of ancient trees that are estimated to be over 900 years old. @natgeocreative #Africa

Reading His Future

A mother and daughter were reading tea leaves in the bottom of their cups during lunch. Wanting to get attention the little brother said, "That’s nothing" as he flung spaghetti on the wall. He told his mother and sister that spaghetti was a much more reliable source for reading the future.

The mother took a close look at the spaghetti as it slid down the wall. She said, "I think you’re right, do you see that noodle? It’s telling me you’ll be grounded for a week."

Yep, It Really Happened
*-- Couple Wed on World's Tallest Roller Coaster --*

A couple who spent their first date at a North Carolina amusement park held their wedding in a sentimental location -- one of the world's fastest roller coasters. James Music and Cortni Bryant said they rode the Fury 325 roller coaster at Carowinds more than a dozen times on their first date in spring of 2015, so they decided the ride was the perfect place to hold their nuptials. The couple said -- or, rather, screamed -- "I do" just before the coaster's big drop, and exited the ride to cheers from friends, family and onlookers. Fury 325, which opened last spring, is the world's tallest and fastest giga-style coaster, standing 325 feet tall and reaching speeds of 95 mph. "I've never been so happy in my entire life," the newly-minted Mrs. Music said. "It's been a long time coming and to have it done exactly like we imagined and then it's so much more. It's like a dream come true honestly. It's perfect. I was extremely nervous, but what bride isn't?" Minister Robert Hamilton delivered an appropriate introduction James Music wrote before the ceremony. "Love has its ups and downs, its turns and plunges, but that only makes it stronger," Hamilton said.

Trivia Hive  Answers
A Western Film filmed in Italy
According to Merriam-Webster, A Spaghetti Western is a movie about the American Old West produced in Italy. They are said to a be a low-brow type of cinematography, using Italian actors with fake American names and landscapes that weren't on a Beverly Hills budget but you'd be surprised to find out who some of the biggest Spaghetti names are: Burt Reynolds, Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda and, of course, the King of Spaghetti Westerns, Clint Eastwood. Go ahead. Make my giorno. Source: The Merriam-Webster Dictionary

If you head on over to the White House website, click on the list of presidents and scroll down to the bottom, you will see that it says: 44 presidents. But before you go writing us to tell us our mistake, take a second look at President #22 and #24. Both are Grover Cleveland. Sneaky, sneaky, America! You see, Cleveland was a two-term President, however, unlike the other two-termers, he had a president in between so he often gets categorized twice. We are sorry that your entire elementary school Government class was a lie. Source: The White House official website

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
