The U.S. Holocaust Museum is telling visitors to stop playing the wildly popular Pokemon Go game. "Playing the game is not appropriate in the museum, which is a memorial to the victims of Nazism," Andrew Hollinger, a museum spokesman, said. "We are trying to find out if we can get the museum excluded from the game." The museum is one of many cultural landmarks labeled as a 'PokeStop' where players can score free in-game items. The Holocaust Museum is tagged with three separate PokeStop locations on its premises. The designation is distracting visitors from the museum's focus, the newspaper added, which is Nazi Germany's slaughter of about 6 million Jews.

Somewhat Useless Information
NEVER LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH
A horse's teeth are a good indicator of its age. Hence, St. Jerome (A.D. 400), who never accepted payment for his writings, penned the famous adage "Never inspect the teeth of a gift horse," which became the more familiar "Never look a gift horse in the mouth."

***
BITE THE BULLET
This old saying means to grin and bear a painful situation. It comes from the days before anesthetics. A soldier about to undergo an operation was given a bullet to bite to keep from screaming.

***
BITTER END
Anchor cable was wrapped around posts called bitts. The last piece of cable was called the bitter end. If you let out the cable to the bitter end there was nothing else you could do, you had reached the end of your resources. Although this origin is not definitive, it is very plausible.

***
DUTCH COURAGE
In the 17th century England and Holland were rivals. They fought wars in 1652-54, 1665-67 and 1672-74. It was said (very unfairly) that the Dutch had to drink alcohol to build up their courage. Other insulting phrases are Dutch treat (meaning you pay for yourself) and Double Dutch meaning gibberish.

***
FLASH IN THE PAN
Muskets had a priming pan, which was filled with gunpowder. When flint hit steel it ignited the powder in the pan, which in turn ignited the main charge of gunpowder and fired the musket ball. However sometimes the powder in the pan failed to light the main charge. In that case you had a flash in the pan.

***
HOIST BY YOUR OWN PETARD
A petard was a type of Tudor bomb. It was a container of gunpowder with a fuse, which was placed against a wooden gate. Sometimes all things did not go to plan and the petard exploded prematurely blowing you into the air. You were hoist by your own petard.

Trivia Hive  Answers
David Cameron
Cameron promised to let the U.K. vote on a Brexit (even though he really, really, didn't want to go). And in a very "So it's gonna be forever or it's gonna go down in flames" move, he announced his resignation from his post as Prime Minister. The race to the next P.M. has two leading ladies: Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom which means the U.K. is looking at its second female Prime Minister in history to go along with its newfound T-Swift-stand-on-your-own-don't-need-the-man independence. Way to go, mate! Source: The Washington Post

Brain Teasers Answers
Most people are right handed and find it easier to fasten a button which is on the right through a hole which is on the left. This is why men's buttons are on the right. When buttons were first used it was rich people who could afford clothes with buttons. Among this class the ladies were often dressed by maid servants. The servant would face the lady and so it was easier for right handed servants to fasten buttons which were on the lady's left.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
