My
Rambling Thoughts
Another warm day with
little hope of rain on the horizon. This has to be one of the warmest summers
in Flag.
If nothing else, Trump has
turned the nomination process into something we have never seen before. How
does he continue on this path? In any other election cycle, he would have been
out of the running long, long ago. No matter what he says or does, he stays
popular with voting Republicans. And Hillary can’t stay out of the headlines
regarding her trustworthiness. I need a break from this…oh, that’s right, in 10
days I’m headed for Barcelona. I can surely make it 10 more days.

Behead N
Language
brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think
about and manipulate words and letters.
When you behead a word,
you remove the first letter and still have a valid word. You will be given
clues for the two words, longer word first.
Example: Begin -> Sour, acidic
Answer: The words are Start and Tart.
1. Pleasant -> Frozen water
2. More recent -> Pitcher for water
3. Noble gas -> Indefinitely long period of time
4. Almost -> Ahead of time; at the beginning of a period of time
5. Not at any time -> At any time
6. None of two choices -> One of two choices
7. Limited width or scope -> Projectile shot from a bow
8. One, for example -> Brown, earthy colour

He thought he was safe from the lightning because he was "grounded".

Lock Jaw
In one small rural town
the sheriff also fulfilled the role of the town's veterinarian. One night the
phone rang, and his wife answered.
An agitated voice inquired, "Is your husband there?"
"He is, but tell me, do you need him as the sheriff or the vet?" the
wife asked.
"Both!" was the reply. "We can't get our dog's mouth open, and
there's a burglar in it!"

*---------------
Cheetah Paw Wins ---------------*
It seems like criminals
are hardly trying anymore. A young girl in Southern California managed to fight
off a potential kidnapper in her home by using a Kung Fu move. Police said that
the man broke through the window at the 8-year-old girl's home in El Cajon. He
then went upstairs to grab her and attempted to drag her down the stairs before
she managed to use a Kung Fu pressure move on his neck to escape. "I
didn't even know. I laid asleep while all this was happening," the girl's
mother told local news. The said she recently learned the move, which she
called "the Cheetah Paw" at her Kung Fu class and decided to use it,
"Because it hurt him." Police used a K-9 to search for the home
invader, who the girl said "smelled like garbage," but were unable to
find him.

Olivia de Havilland
Olivia de Havilland recently turned 100
years old and she still looks just as fabulous as ever. However, becoming a
centenarian isn't the only impressive thing de Havilland has done with her
life. The film star was the first woman to ever be named President of the
Cannes Film Festival jury and her challenge against Warner Bros. paved the way
for the California Labor Code Section 2855. In case you don't have your
California Lawbook handy, the law titled "The de Havilland Decision"
made it clear that "California law limits to seven years the time an
employer can enforce a contract with an employee". Source: Los Angeles

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and
is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that
every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many
sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be
totally accurate.
