My Rambling Thoughts
Good
lunch with Mary, as Cheryl is still in CA at her grandson’s graduation. Helped
Mary get some stuff set up on her new IPhone. Interestingly, at least from a
techie point of view, she was at the Apple store in Phx after having a problem
with her phone. They told her to use her Apple password. She used the one she
thought it was, then tried two more. The Phone locked and erased everything on
her phone. They couldn’t help her because she didn’t have a paper receipt that
the phone was hers. So she goes to Verizon and they check out everything and
say don’t worry, it’s all in the cloud. Her son buys her a new phone…he is a
techie. They go to his house and discover that someone---either Apple Store or
Verizon---shut down her cloud account. So she lost everything on the phone and
everything she had in the cloud. So now she is rebuilding her accounts and
information. A real pain to say the least.
I
worked on the local NARFE website and the Chapter President is happy with it.
Still have some more to do. Gotta keep the head guy happy.

Brain Teasers
(answers
at the end of post)
Game Show
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English
language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
"Welcome
back to the show. Before the break, Mr Ixolite here made it to our grand
finale! How do you feel Mr.Ix?"
"Nervous."
"Okay, now to win the star prize of one million pounds all you have to do
is answer the following question in 90 seconds."
"Okay, I'm ready."
"Right. In 90 seconds name 100 words that do NOT contain the letter 'A'.
Start the clock!"
Can you help?

2 jokes for the day
Two
guys are at a bar, drunk and talking nonsense.
MAN 1: I am planning on buying the world.
MAN 2: That is crazy and makes no sense what-so-ever, you can't buy the world.
MAN 1: Why not?
MAN 2: Because, I am not going to sell it to you.

One Spring afternoon, I came home to
find two little girls on the steps of my building. Both were crying hard,
shedding big tears. Thinking they might be hurt, I dropped my briefcase and
quickly went over to them. "Are you all right?" I asked.
Still sobbing, one held up her doll. "My baby's arm came off," she
said.
I took the doll and its disjointed arm. After a little effort and luck, the
doll was again whole. "Thank you," came a whisper from the girl as I
handed her the doll back. Next, looking into the tearful eyes of her friend, I
asked, "And what's the matter with you, young lady?"
She wiped her cheeks and said, "Oh I'm okay, I was just helping her
cry."

Yep, It Really Happened
*---------
That's About Par for Florida ---------*
An
enormous alligator was seen walking across the fairway at a golf course in
Florida as onlookers captured video footage. Charles Helms, 56, recorded video
of the massive gator at Buffalo Creek Golf Course as it made its way across the
course. "He was at a pretty safe distance," Helms said of his friend
David Matos who can also be seen filming the gator. "This alligator was so
large he would only move slowly --about 100 feet at a time -- before having to
lie down and rest so he probably wasn't in as much danger as it may have
appeared. An alligator expert may refute that; I'm just going on what I have
been told." Golf course employee Wendy Schofield said the gator has been
seen at the course multiple times and has not been known to pose a threat to
golfers. "He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a
mascot for the course," she said.

Somewhat Useless
Information
Several
studies show that a plant-based diet increases the body's metabolism, causing
the body to burn calories up to 16 percent faster than the body would on a
meat-based diet for at least the first 3 hours after meals.
Some research suggests that if a man avoids red meats, it improves the sex
appeal of his body odor.
The American Dietetic Association (ADA) concludes that a vegetarian or vegan
diet is healthier than one that includes meat. They note that vegetarians have
lower body mass indices, lower rates of death from heart disease, lower blood
cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, lower rates of hypertension, type 2
diabetes, and less prostate and colon cancer.
There
are several types of vegetarians. The strictest type is vegans. Vegans avoid
not only meat but also all animal products. There is a debate within the vegan
community about whether honey is appropriate for a vegan diet. For example, the
Vegan Society and the American Vegan Society do not consider honey appropriate
because it comes from an animal.
A fruitarian is a type of vegetarian in which a person eats just fruits, nuts,
seeds, and other plant material that can be harvested without killing the
plant.
Approximately 25 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of wheat.
Around 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of meat. Many
vegetarians argue that more people eating a meat-free diet would lower the
strain that meat production puts on the environment.

All ‘data’
info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other

information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult
to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted
[1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
