My Rambling Thoughts
Another
very windy day…warm but too windy to have the windows fully open.
We
had a fascinating discussion on the New Middle East last night. Learned a lot
about the various religious groups, but also the many tribal affiliations that
are part of the constant upheaval in that part of the world.
Then
I woke up to the horror in Orlando. It is time to have a real discussion about
the role of guns in our society. I am so tired of hearing that some crazy
bought the guns used for a massacre were purchased legally. Really? And now we
hear he had been investigated by the FBI for his statements and that he was a security
guard. Really?
Started
looking for airline tickets to Denver for my trip to Barcelona next month.
Always check a few days before purchase hoping the price will drop...it usually
does.

Brain Teasers
(answers
at the end of post)
Positive Energy
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that
needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
Out
of nowhere, I can erupt
A peaceful calm, I may disrupt
My trigger, one might not expect
Those around me, I may infect
The atmosphere, I may brighten
By stimuli, I delight in
From one to the next, I vary
My echoed sentiment merry
What am I?

natgeocreative A proboscis monkey at the Singapore Zoo has
become the 6000th species to come on board the National Geographic
#PhotoArk by @joelsartore! Males of this species may use that huge nose to
attract females and to amplify alarm calls as well.
A breeding colony of these endangered primates is kept at the Singapore Zoo,
one of the only places in the world where the animal can be seen under human
care.
Severely threatened by habitat loss and hunting, this animal lives in Borneo,
which is being ravaged by logging, primarily for palm oil plantations and human
settlement.

2 jokes for the day
One
day at home the phone rings and Joe answers it. On the other end is a confused
woman who asks, "Who is this?"
"This is Joe. With whom did you wish to speak with?"
After a pause the woman says, "Did you just say whom?"
"Yes, I did."
"Then you're definitely not my son!"

Two kids are talking to each other. One
says, "I'm really worried. My dad works twelve hours a day to give me a
nice home and good food. My mom spends the whole day cleaning and cooking for
me. I'm worried sick!"
The other kid says, "What have you got to worry about? Sounds to me like
you've got it made!"
The first kid says, "What if they try to escape?"

The Way They Handle Things in Oregon -----*
An
Oregon man who tried to steal a bicycle had his plans foiled by a horse-riding
vigilante. Local news reported that a woman saw the man riding away on her
bicycle outside of a local Walmart at about 10 a.m. when the Good Samaritan
mounted his horse and lassoed the would-be thief. Several other bystanders
joined in the pursuit and the horseback hero stayed and kept the suspect
restrained until police arrived. Police spokesman Officer Chris Adams said that
the suspect was booked on suspicion of theft following the incident.

Brain Teasers Answers
a
laugh
lines 1-2: A laugh may arise unexpectedly breaking the silence.
lines 3-4: A laugh can be caused by something you weren't expecting, for
example the unexpected twist in the punch line of a joke. Laughing is said to
be contagious because it can make those around you laugh as well.
lines 5-6: The atmosphere in the place where you are may be brightened by a
laugh.
lines 7-8: Each person's laugh may be slightly different from the next, but no
matter what, a laugh is universally recognized as a cheerful expression.

All ‘data’
info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other
source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the
information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult
to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted
[1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
