My
Rambling Thoughts
I have a
nice set of wind chimes that I bought for my parents while I was an
undergraduate. They have been with the family since then. Yesterday, I took
them down as the chimes were too noisy with all the wind we have. I’ll put them
back up after our spring wind subsides. Either this year is more windy than
usual, or I am getting old and more aware of the chimes.
Ready for
tonight’s discussion on the New Middle East. Very interesting to see what is
happening and how so many in the world think it hasn’t changed.

Brain
Teasers
(answers at
the end of post)
Sounding Them Out - I
Language brain teasers are those that involve
the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Given below
are five pairs of words. Each pair sounds similar, but have different meanings
(they are homonyms). Can you find them?
Lift high - Bring down, destroy
Plant with ears - Labyrinth
Burial/Cremation formalities - Uses a pen and paper and forms legible words
To communicate with God - Carnivore's target
Watery part of milk that separates when milk turns to curds - The route or the
course traveled from one place to another

jokes for the day
Ever been
told something, but you can't decide if it's a compliment or an insult?
Recently, when I greeted my coworker, she said, “You look so gorgeous, I didn’t
recognize you!”

Yep,
It Really Happened
*------
Drunk Driver Wore Chastity Device ------*
A Tennessee
man arrested last month for drunk driving told police that he needed to
retrieve a key from his vehicle so that he would be able to unlock a
"chastity belt that was attached to his penis," according to court
records. In addition to the chastity belt, the 35-year-old driver, was wearing
a white skirt, "white and pink leggings," and black high heel shoes,
a police report notes. The 5' 9", 230-pound man also had a ribbon tied in
his goatee. The driver reported that there were two keys for the chastity belt.
One, he said, was on the key chain in his Toyota Tundra. The second key was on
a necklace worn by his girlfriend. So we know who wears the pants in this
relationship. I think if you're going to drive around in public with a chastity
device on your dick while wearing a skirt and high heels, you'd probably need
to be a little toasted.

Somewhat
Useless Information
In China,
the Milky Way is called "The Silver River." The Romans called our
galaxy the Milky Road because it reminded them of milk. The Greeks called it
the Milky Circle. In fact, the word "galaxy" is from the Greek word
for milk.
***
The Milky
Way is a galaxy--a huge group of stars, gas, dust, and other matter held
together in space by their mutual gravitational pull. The Milky Way is just one
of billions of galaxies in the universe.
***
When a
person sees the Milky Way at night, they are seeing only about 0.0000025
percent of the galaxy's hundreds of billions of stars.
***
The Milky
Way galaxy is 100,000 light-years from edge to edge. If a rocket could travel
at the speed of light, it would take 100,000 years to cross the galaxy. By
comparison, light can go from Earth to the moon in just one second.
***
If our solar
system were the size of a U.S. quarter, the sun would be a microscopic piece of
dust and the Milky Way would be about the size of the United States.

All ‘data’ info is from the
internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I
have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information
is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify.
Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the
dates may not be totally accurate.
